Project Background
Having previously used CIPP, the City looked to the technology to rehabilitate the watermains located in the Mohawk neighborhood between 37th and 44th street. The main was located within the right of way, which would have led to the excavation of a large amount of residential front yards as well as the removal of several trees should they have proceeded with their traditional replacement methods of open-cut or directional drill.
Overview
FER-PAL teamed up with local contractor, H.R. Bookstrom Contracting to complete the project. Bookstrom, the general contractor, was responsible for the civil works and restorations while FER-PAL was responsible for the bypass and CIPP portion of the project. The project was completed over the course of the summer with the restorations for the project completed in the fall. FER-PAL successfully reinstated 96.5% of the services within the project while experiencing no defective lining ensuring that the project maintained its limited impact.
